By location Peru should have a warm, humid and rainy climate; however, the presence of the Andes Mountains, the South Pacific anti-cyclonic circulation and the Humboldt Current, give rise to the great variety of climates that presents the country.
The coast is characterized by dense fog and slight drizzle between May and November, producing cold sensation although the average annual temperature ranges from 14°C and 18°C. In summer (December-April), humidity decreases and the sun shines brightly.
Both in the sierra and in the jungle there is a dry season (May-October) with abundant sunny days, and a rainy season between December and March (“winter”). While the sierra has a cool and dry climate, with an average annual temperature that ranges between 9°C and 18°C, the jungle has a tropical climate with temperatures fluctuating between 26°C and 40°C.
